About Us
Originally formed as a dedicated festival performance for the 53rd National Flute Association Convention in Atlanta (USA), the Australian Flute Ensemble was established by Director, Simone Maurer, to showcase a program of all-Australian flute ensemble repertoire with all-Australian performers. Following a resounding success in America, what began as a singular festival project evolved into an ongoing artistic mission - to champion Australian flute ensemble music on the global stage.
Under Maurer's leadership, the ensemble has emerged as a vivid new presence in the chamber music scene. Driven by a commitment to performing and recording Australian flute ensemble repertoire, the group's 2026 highlights include the upcoming release of their debut EP Vital Signs (featuring the music of Monash Lal) and a performance tour throughout Europe.
The Australian Flute Ensemble comprises six core members and frequently collaborates with guest artists and ensembles to bring larger-scale artistic projects to life.
